Karol G opened up about her breakup with Feid.
In an ELLE Magazine digital cover story published on Wednesday, July 15, the Latin American Grammy-winning Colombian singer — whose real name is Carolina Giraldo Navarro — reflected on what she learned from her split with the Colombian reggaeton artist, 33, whom she dated for three years.
“Before, I was trying to be a super powerful version of myself all the time,” Karol, 35, told the publication. “It was like I put on a shell, like an armor—‘I can handle it, nothing touches me, nothing gets to me.’ But you have to exist in all your versions in order to have that power.”

She continued, “People say, ‘Why me? Why did I love him?’ No…I don’t want my fans to feel that they always have to be a ‘bichota [meaning boss or big shot].”
Karol said she wants to teach fans to “live through sadness.”
“When time passes and you see things more clearly, you say: ‘It had to happen to learn this, to understand this, to value this more,’” added Karol.
Following their breakup, the “Después de ti” musician revealed that she largely stayed offline.
“I felt like I lost a bit of my freedom of expression; everything I say somehow gets twisted,” said Karol.

Karol and Feid initially sparked dating rumors in 2021 when the “Que Vuelta Vox” performer was opening for her on tour. However, they denied the rumors at the time.
The pair were spotted holding hands in June 2023 after Feid’s Miami show. Per Billboard, he attended one of Karol’s consecutive Rose Bowl performances during her Mañana Será Bonito U.S. stadium tour two months later.

At the show, the “Provenza” performer wished Feid a happy birthday from the stage before singing “Tus Gafitas,” her track about falling in love and getting to know someone new — which she had previously dedicated to him at a concert in Puerto Rico.
Despite keeping their romance private, Karol confirmed their relationship in an August 2023 Rolling Stone interview, which included a description of the singer’s candid snap of Feid on her phone.
The former couple made their red carpet debut in May 2025 at the premiere of her Netflix documentary, Karol G: Tomorrow Was Beautiful.
Karol released her latest album Tropicoqueta in June 2025.
