Katy Perry kicked off the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening in Los Angeles with a performance to remember.

The 41-year-old pop star brought the energy to SoFi Stadium on Friday, June 12, as one of the ceremony's headliners, alongside other musical performances from Anitta, Tyla, BLACKPINK's Lisa and more.

Perry performed “Wonder,” a track from her 2024 album 143, with musical special guest, 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius. Surrounded by flags from around the world, the singer lit up the field with a shimmering, silver look from Stella McCartney's Fall/Winter 2026 collection. At the end of the performance, Perry picked him up as the crowd cheered.

A day before taking the stage, Perry introduced fans to Tius in a video shared on her Instagram, explaining the story behind his involvement in the song.

“That little voice you're listening to right now is Tius,” Perry wrote alongside the clip.

After the performance, she shared a sweet photo of them hanging out backstage on Instagram and captioned the post, "Brought a little “Wonder” to the @fifaworldcup in Los Angeles with @tiusluka✨⚽️"

The performance marked Perry's first time singing “Wonder” live. At the Tribeca Festival premiere of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live from Paris, Perry hinted that she had chosen a song fans had never heard her perform onstage before.

“It's very fitting for the ceremonial song that I get to sing," the "Teenage Dream" singer told PEOPLE.

“And it's not new,” she added. “It's off of one of my records, and I'm very excited to perform it.”

SoFi hosted the exclusive match day experience in Los Angeles, bringing together celebrities and sports fans to celebrate the kickoff of the summer's biggest global soccer event, featuring the U.S.A. vs. Paraguay match. Guests enjoyed VIP suite access, and an evening celebrating the intersection of sports, entertainment, and culture.

The game saw the U.S. men's national team dominate Paraguay with a 4-1 victory. Several celebrities, including Justin and Hailey Bieber, David Beckham, Tom Cruise, Chloe Bailey, Sterling K. Brown and Dylan Efron were also in attendance to watch the match.
