Linda Cardellini won this year’s Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Dakota Fanning, Laurie Metcalf, Joy Sunday, Youn Yuh-jung and Constance Zimmer were also nominated in the category, which was announced at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony held on Sunday, Sept. 6.
Cardellini’s win for her role as Carol Love-Smernitch in HBO’s DTF St. Louis also marked her fourth Emmy nomination, with the win marking her first career Emmy. She was previously recognized for her performances in Dead to Me and Mad Men.

The role was “very different from everybody else I’ve played,” Cardellini previously told PEOPLE, as Carol “does not wear her heart on her sleeve at all.” She said it was “really fun” to play such an “opaque” character because, “in the beginning, you think something about her, and at the end, you know more about her, and you might change your mind.”

Also nominated in the category, Fanning was recognized for playing Jenny Kaminski in the Peacock hit, All Her Fault. She is also nominated this year as an executive producer for Margo’s Got Money Troubles, which is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series.
She said she was “bursting with happiness” about the various nominations in a July Instagram post.

Playing Augusta Gein in Monster: The Ed Gein Story earned Metcalf her 14th Emmy nomination in the category. She was also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her appearance in Hacks season 5, a role that earned her a win in 2022. Metcalf is a four-time Emmy winner. Prior to her win for Hacks in 2022, she won in 1992, 1993 and 1994 for her role as Jackie Harris in Roseanne.

Sunday is a first-time nominee with her recognition in the category. The actress earned her first nod for her role as Detective Jodie Plumb in HBO’s DTF St. Louis. The series itself scored 13 nominations overall this year.
In an Instagram post, Sunday shared a photo of her younger self and a photo from her first day on the set of the HBO series as she celebrated the nomination. “This kid never quite learned how to give up on her dreams. Thank you for enabling her @televisionacad,” she wrote in the caption.

Yuh-jung is also a first-time nominee. She played Chairwoman Park in season 2 of Beef — alongside Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny — as the series earned 16 nominations overall this year. Isaac, Mulligan and Melton were all recognized individually, and the series nabbed a nomination for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. The 79-year-old South Korean actress is also an Oscar winner.

Zimmer’s nomination for Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette marks her second Emmy nomination. She played Ann Marie Messina, mom to Carolyn Bessette, in the series, which was led by Sarah Pidgeon and Paul Anthony Kelly.
She described the role as the “most emotionally gratifying” of her career, in a post on Instagram after her casting was announced last year. “From the script to the cast and crew, this project moved me in so many ways, I’m so beyond grateful to be a part of it!”
The 78th Emmy Awards (Creative Arts) are being held on Sept. 5 and Sept. 6 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be edited into a single broadcast that airs Saturday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FXX and streams on Hulu the next day. The Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on NBC and Peacock Monday, Sept. 14, with host Mariska Hargitay.
