Seinfeld isn’t exactly a family comedy, but the sitcom’s stars are all loving parents.

The four main cast members — the eponymous Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine Benes), Jason Alexander (George Costanza) and Michael Richards (Cosmo Kramer) — have children, as does the most prominent recurring actor, Wayne Knight (Newman).

While Louis-Dreyfus, Alexander and Richards entered parenthood before the show wrapped on May 14, 1998, Seinfeld and Knight didn’t become dads until later. Many of the actors’ kids, most of whom are grown up, have followed in their parents’ footsteps and entered show business, including Louis-Dreyfus’ two sons, Henry and Charlie Hall, the latter of whom will star on season 4 of The White Lotus.

Jerry has discussed some seminal parenting moments over the years, including his and wife Jessica Seinfeld’s soft spots when it comes to their three kids.

“When Sascha’s first goldfish died, we replaced it without telling her because we couldn’t handle the emotional,” he told reporters in June 2019. “We snuck another goldfish into the bowl.”

After years of depicting a bachelor on-screen, Jerry married Jessica in December 1999, and they now share three children.

They welcomed their first child, daughter Sascha Betty, in November 2000, followed by son Julian Kal in March 2003. Their youngest child, son Shepherd Kellen, joined the family in August 2005.

Jessica told Parents magazine in May 2020 that Jerry wasn’t exactly a “natural” at first, but being a dad of teenagers was his “strength.”

“He’s patient with them. Where I am weaker, he is stronger, and we complement each other. I wouldn’t change anything,” she said.

All three kids are now in their 20s. Sascha and Julian both graduated from Duke University, while Shepherd started his freshman year at the same North Carolina college in 2024.

Before stepping into the iconic role of Elaine Benes in 1989, Louis-Dreyfus met her future husband, actor and comedian Brad Hall, while both attended Northwestern University. They wed in June 1987 and welcomed their first son, Henry, in July 1992, before becoming a family of four in May 1997 with the birth of Charlie.

Both sons followed in their parents’ footsteps by pursuing careers in entertainment. Henry is a musician and has dabbled in acting, including roles on White House Plumbers and Dinner with the Parents, while Charlie is an actor who’s appeared on Single Drunk Female, The Sex Lives of College Girls and The White Lotus.

“I love it! It’s a big surprise,” Louis-Dreyfus told PEOPLE in March 2023 of her kids joining the family trade.

She continued, “I love the arts, and I think that to be a creative person, and to be able to make a living as a creative person, is an absolute gift. The fact that my children are able to pull that off gives me endless joy.”

In a separate interview two months later, the Veep star admitted to being “a little bit of a momager.”

“I’m happy helping them with auditions and reading scenes when they get hired,” she told PEOPLE. “I’m very supportive and proud.”

Jason Alexander’s 2 Sons

Like Louis-Dreyfus, Alexander married his wife before audiences met George Costanza. He and Daena Title tied the knot in May 1982, and 10 years later, they welcomed their first child, son Gabe Greenspan, in May 1992. In February 1996, their family grew once more with the addition of son Noah Greenspan.

As his sons were growing up, Alexander was careful to keep them out of the spotlight as much as possible. “We didn’t want the kids to be forced into that exposure,” Alexander said on the First Class Fatherhood podcast in June 2021.

During the podcast appearance, he also said that he’d prefer for his legacy to live through his children rather than something like a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, explaining that he wants Gabe and Noah to remember him as “someone who adored them, who supported them, who believed in them [and] who would always try to be there for them.”

Gabe studied theater at Yale University, according to his website. He has been part of several comedy troupes and landed TV and film roles over the years, including teaming up with his dad to write and star in the 2017 comedy series Dinner with Dad. Gabe shares one son with wife Kristina Holliman, whom he married in September 2020.

Noah also went into showbiz, working as a voice actor and narrator. His credits include 2024’s Twisters, Daisy Jones & the Six, Young Sheldon and Hawaii Five-0, per his website.

In the midst of starring as Cosmo Kramer over the show’s nine-year run, Richards and his wife of 18 years, Cathleen Lyons, divorced. He and Lyons share one daughter, Sophia, who is seen here walking the red carpet with her dad at the 1996 Golden Globe Awards. Sophia now has two children, making Richards a grandfather.

Later in life, Richards became a dad once more when he and his second wife, actress Beth Skipp, welcomed son Antonio.

During his time on Seinfeld, playing Jerry and Kramer’s neighbor Newman, Knight married makeup artist Paula Sutor in 1996. They divorced in 2003. The Jurassic Park actor went on to marry editor Clare Knight in 2006, and the pair share one child, son Liam.

Liam got started in Hollywood as a young actor and has voiced animated characters in films such as Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011), Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016) and GOAT (2026).

The Kung Fu Panda franchise, which kicked off with the original film in 2008, is deeply embedded in the Knight family lore.

“My personal journey is that I met and married my husband on the first [film], and I had my son Liam, who voiced baby Po, on the second,” Clare told The Credits in February 2016, adding, “I got them both in there. As an editor, you don’t get many hours with your family, so it’s always good to have them, to hear their voices anyway.”
