A 30-year-old woman has been found dead in Tennessee, according to local authorities.
A missing person’s bulletin was issued on Sept. 22 for Savannah Pierce, who was last known to be in the Maury County and Williamson County areas, the Maury County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Officials said she had last been in contact with her family on Sept. 7, according to ABC affiliate WKRN and NBC affiliate WSMV.
Shortly after posting the missing person’s bulletin online, authorities shared that the search for Pierce had come to an end.
“It is with heavy hearts that the Maury County Sheriff’s Office shares an update on the missing person bulletin issued for Savannah Pierce,” officials wrote.
“Ms. Pierce has been located and, tragically, was found deceased,” the sheriff’s office statement read. “Our thoughts are with her family during this incredibly difficult time, and we extend our deepest condolences to them.”
“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing,” the department continued without sharing additional details about where and when her remains were found.
The department went on to “recognize the diligent and swift work of our Criminal Investigations Unit, who moved quickly from the initial report of a possible missing female to locating her and identifying those responsible.”
“Their dedication reflects our department’s commitment to working diligently on behalf of the families we serve,” they added.
