  • Georgiou, a Love Island contestant, uses his love of the boy band as a conversation starter with women
  • The Islander also admitted that his favorite member of the group is Zayn Malik

Niall Horan has heard about Love Island's Zacharias "Zach" Georgiou's flirting strategy — and he might not be entirely convinced by it.

The former One Direction star, 32, recently reacted to the Season 8 contestant revealing that he regularly uses his love of the iconic British boy band as a conversation starter when talking to women.

"God almighty, I hope that works for him," Horan shared with iHeart Canada in a June 17 TikTok video. "That's all I can say on that, to be honest."

His response came after the U.K. native contestant, 26, proudly shared his One Direction fandom during his introduction on the hit Peacock dating series.

The Islander also admitted that his favorite member of the group is Zayn Malik, putting him ahead of Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and the late Liam Payne in his personal rankings.

"If I'm talking to a girl, I do always bring up One Direction ‘cause it always works,'" Georgiou confessed.

Whether it's a foolproof pickup line or not, Georgiou appears to be a genuine fan.

"But it's real, I do actually love them," he said. "They're surprised when I start spitting some ball knowledge about 1D."

Georgiou, who is also a fan of superheroes and comic books, said he's looking for a relationship that lasts after spending more than three years single.

"My last relationship, I was with her for four years," he explained on the show. "But then I think the love just faded out."

As for his ideal match, Georgiou said he's simply searching for a "fun, cool American girl." However, he does have one non-negotiable requirement.

"My girlfriend needs to love my cat or else she's out the door, 100 percent," he mentioned.

For now, viewers will have to wait and see whether Georgiou's One Direction-themed flirting tactic actually helps him find romance in the villa. At least he has Horan's blessing or something close to it.

New episodes of Love Island USA will resume on Thursday, June 18 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Seasons 4 through 8 are available to stream on Peacock.
