Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have welcomed their fourth baby, a boy, together.
The couple announced the news in a joint social media post on Sunday, July 19.
“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning,” they wrote. “Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”
“The incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing,” the couple added. “We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”

JD and Usha already share three kids: Ewan, 9; Vivek, 6; and Mirabel, 4.
On Jan. 20, JD and Usha revealed on Instagram that Usha was pregnant.
“We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July,” they wrote.
“During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children,” they added.

Usha is the second known vice presidential spouse to give birth while her husband is in office, following Ellen Colfax — the wife of Ulysses Grant’s vice president, Schuyler Colfax — who had a son in 1870, one year after assuming the role.

JD, who earned backlash during the 2024 presidential campaign for an old interview in which he characterized Democratic leadership as “a bunch of childless cat ladies,” has routinely spoken about the importance of Americans raising children throughout his political career.
“Let me say very simply: I want more babies in the United States of America,” he told the crowd at the 2025 March for Life. “I want more happy children in our country, and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them.”
In January, JD underscored his point, arguing that Usha’s pregnancy is proof that he is a man of his word.

After telling the crowd in 2025, “I want more happy children in our country and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them,” he referenced the remarks at the 2026 March for Life rally in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 23.
“So let the record show, you have a vice president who practices what he preaches,” he said.
