Woman Vanished While Traveling to Visit a Friend. Family Is Worried She Has Now Run Out of Insulin Medication

An Arizona family is asking for help in finding a missing woman, who was last seen more than a week ago and could be running out of insulin.

Gayle Schneider of Tucson, who also uses the name Gayle Santangelo, has been missing since June 8, according to 13 News and KVOA.

Her family told the local outlets that she was meeting an acquaintance in Stanfield, located about 80 miles outside of Tucson. She has not been heard from since.

"Gayle's family reported to us and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department that she did not return from a trip," the Tucson Police Department told PEOPLE in a statement. "We currently have an attempt to locate bulletin active for her."

Family members also told the outlets that her phone has been turned off and that she has not reached out to any relatives or friends since going missing on June 8.

They also said that she is insulin-dependent and would have run out of her supply of medication by June 11.

The missing woman is described as between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall. She weighs around 115 lbs. and has greenish-brown eyes and red-blonde hair.

Schneider also has some distinct tattoos, including a cherry blossom on her right thigh, stylist scissors on her left inner forearm and a flower on the top of her left foot.
