Four people were arrested, and three others received citations, after a fight broke out at a San Francisco Giants-Colorado Rockies game.
According to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), the fight began around 9:45 p.m. local time on Thursday, July 9, during the MLB game at Oracle Park.
Officers who were working at the ballpark intervened and detained seven people in total, the SFPD told PEOPLE in a statement.
“The preliminary investigation determined the altercation was the result of a verbal dispute that turned physical,” police said. “Officers developed probable cause to place four of the subjects under arrest and cite the other three subjects.”

Social media footage of the incident obtained by the New York Post shows multiple people punching each other as the fight moved from a set of seats at field level across the aisle. At one point, a man can be seen kicking a woman after she was thrown to the ground, before some other attendees intervened and pulled the group apart.
The SFPD said the four people arrested were between the ages of 21 to 29, and they face charges including disturbing the peace and public intoxication. One person was also charged with assault “likely to produce great bodily injury.” All four people were transported to the San Francisco County Jail and booked on their charges.

Three others, ages 22 to 26, were cited for disturbing the peace before being released. One was also cited for public intoxication.
In a statement to PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Giants shared that the people involved would be barred from returning to Oracle Park.
“This was a horrible and intolerable display of behavior,” the spokesperson said. “SFPD made multiple arrests, and those involved will be banned from the park.”
The Giants beat the Rockies, 8-2, on Thursday night, and the Colorado team won, 4-3, on Friday, July 10. The two teams are set to face each other again in San Francisco on Saturday, July 11.
The SFPD told PEOPLE on Saturday that the investigation into the brawl is still active and ongoing.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD,” the department said.
