Prosecutors introduced in court various surveillance videos depicting who they allege is Tyler Robinson on the campus of Utah Valley University before and after the shooting of Charlie Kirk.

Charged with Kirk's murder, Robinson is accused of perpetrating the high-profile assassination on Sept. 10, 2025, at a Turning Point USA rally. He appeared in court for the second day of a multi-day preliminary hearing in Provo, Utah, on Tuesday, July 7.

During the hearing, the court was shown a compilation of surveillance footage from the day of the shooting. Court proceedings were streamed by the Associated Press and other outlets.

As the videos were being shown, David Hull, who led the investigation into Kirk’s murder, testified that he believed the figure seen in the footage was Robinson.

Hull identified the individual in one video taken hours before the shooting as Robinson, shortly before he interacted with organizers from Turning Point USA, the organization co-founded by Kirk.

Hours later, Hull said that same individual, wearing different clothing and walking with a limp, was seen in other surveillance videos.

The court was then shown security camera footage taken from a campus building that appeared to show an individual on the roof of an adjacent building around the time of the shooting on Sept. 10. After the shot, that individual is seen lowering himself from the roof and walking away with something in his hand.

Hull testified that he believed the individual seen on the roof was Robinson.

The security camera did not provide an up-close look at the person on the rooftop.

Subsequent footage shown in court, dated Sept. 11 at about 12:30 a.m. — approximately 12 hours after the shooting — showed a vehicle on campus that Hull says was Robinson’s.

Hull testified that Robinson interacted with a police officer who took down his license plate early on the morning of the 11th and later ran the plate, which revealed that the vehicle was registered to Robinson.

Kirk’s widow, Erika, was in attendance at the hearing Tuesday, according to the AP.

The Kirk family released a statement on social media prior to the first day of the hearing on Monday.

“Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children,” they said in the statement. “We remain deeply grateful for the support, prayers, and kindness we have received. This outpouring has sustained us during the darkest days of our lives.”

The family reportedly left the courtroom while former Utah Valley University police officer Chris Bagley testified about Kirk’s death, according to the AP.
