Noah Wyle is leading the pack when it comes to Emmy nominations.
On Wednesday, July 8, the nominees for the 78th Emmy Awards were announced and The Pitt, which sees the 55-year-old actor as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch on the HBO Max hit series, is leading this year’s drama categories with 25 nods — the most any show has received this season. Wyle received two nominations himself —Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the episode “12:00 p.m.” and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, the same award he won for season 1.
“This just feels very much like a gift that keeps on giving,” Wyle told Deadline of this year’s nominations. “I feel very humbled by this and validated many times over.”
“Today, I feel extremely gratified that the nominations were spread so far and wide across our casting,” Wyle continued. “It really feels like it’s a testament to the collective achievement and contribution that everybody makes.”
He went on to call the show a “collective effort” before recognizing the contributions of the other cast, crew and executives.
“So many wonderful things are ahead. #ThePitt #Emmys,” the official Instagram account for the streamer captioned a carousel congratulating the cast after the news was shared.

Fans fell in love with the medical drama as it follows the frontline heroes working in the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.
After the success of seasons 1 and 2, Wyle spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about what fans of the show can look forward to when it returns for season 3.
“Just close our eyes, flip a calendar and throw a dart,” he playfully told PEOPLE at the 2026 PaleyFest LA in Los Angeles in April about where the upcoming season will begin after viewers saw a 10-month time jump between the first two seasons.
“We’re sort of hard-pressed to try and find a passage of time that will keep our ensemble together as much as possible because it’s such a revolving front door,” he continued. “You don’t want to cast it so far in the future that we’d lose more characters than we want to.”
Wyle, who also serves as an executive producer, writer and director on the series, hinted that when The Pitt returns, it will be in a different season of the year “because that sometimes gives you more variety of cases.”
“In the wintertime, you get more car accidents, more black ice, more boilers exploding and that kind of stuff. Different wardrobe, different vibe,” the Falling Skies alum said, adding that “the plan” is for the season to occur around the month of November. “Fall, late fall,” he teased.
