Josh Heuston is helping to bring another beloved book series to life.
The Off Campus actor, 29, is set to star in an upcoming film adaptation of Throttled, based on author Lauren Asher‘s Dirty Air book series.
The adaptation will be directed by Nzingha Stewart, known for her work on the Prime Video series Daisy Jones & the Six, with a script by Melissa Osborne of My Fault: London. Elizabeth Banks and Maz Handelman (Brownstone Productions) will produce alongside Garrett Grant and Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay of Ethea Entertainment. Asher will also serve as an executive producer alongside Alison Small.

Asher’s Dirty Air series comprises four interconnected romance novels, all set in the world of professional car racing. She debuted the series in 2020 with Throttled; the series also includes Collided (2020), Wrecked (2020) and Redeemed (2021).
The Throttled novel follows the forbidden romance between racing up-and-comer Noah Slade and Maya Alatorre, the sister of one of his rivals.

“I’m most excited to see Noah and Maya’s romance unfold while exploring the Dirty Air world and its characters,” Asher explains to PEOPLE. “As both a motorsports fan and an avid romance reader who loves watching book adaptations, I’m thrilled that there will be a romance movie set in the racing world. I think fans of the series will be just as excited as me when they see some of my favorite scenes from the book playing out on the screen.”

Heuston also played musician Justin Kohl in the Prime Video adaptation of Off Campus, the sports romance series of the same name by Elle Kennedy. The show was renewed for a second season.

Asher is also gearing up to release a new novel, Wish You Were Not Here, in spring 2027. The second-chance romance follows Natalia and Gabriel, two exes who end up on their non-refundable honeymoon together.
“Writing about a failed engagement was an exciting challenge for me because I not only had to prove why Natalia and Gabriel needed to break up the first time, but also show why they deserved a second chance at love,” Asher said of the novel.
A release date for Throttled has not yet been announced.
