  • President Donald Trump said he has made “hundreds of billions of dollars” on stocks for the benefit of the U.S.
  • He made the claim alongside an AI-generated photo of himself sitting in front of several computer screens looking at stock data while in the Oval Office
  • The post was one of several that Trump and his team have shared, including another that depicted him as the Green Lantern

President Donald Trump said he’s made “hundreds of billions of dollars” off stocks, but that the money is for the nation and “not myself.”

“I do this for our Country, not myself. I’ve made Hundreds of Billions of Dollars on Stocks, and many other type Holdings, for the U.S.A., not myself, and all I do is get criticized by the Radical Left Dumocrats. Very unfair, but what can you do!” Trump, 80, wrote in a Sunday, Sept. 6, post on Truth Social.

The message was accompanied by an AI-generated image of the president sitting in the Oval Office in front of several computer screens that displayed stock-market data.

While Trump offered no evidence for his claim that he’s made the country billions of dollars, his administration has made significant investments in U.S. companies, according to CNBC. In August 2025, the administration acquired a 10% stake in semiconductor giant Intel. That stake has since risen substantially in value, with its current worth $50 billion.

Trump has also faced scrutiny over Truth API, an up-to-$100,000-a-month feature offered through Truth Social that provides subscribers with early access to certain administration announcements, according to CNBC.

Critics have raised concerns about whether access to potentially market-moving government information could give subscribers an advantage in financial markets. In July, several senators asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to examine whether Trump Media, the parent company of Truth Social, violated federal securities laws through the service.

His post was one of several shared in a spree that stretched for more than 10 hours, with the president sharing dozens of images, many of them apparently generated or altered using artificial intelligence.

The posts ranged from depictions of Trump alongside historical figures to images portraying America’s military strength and his own influence over the economy.

Also on Sunday, the White House shared a generated video depicting Trump as the DC Universe’s Green Lantern, an intergalactic superhero who possesses a ring with glowing powers.

“In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might beware my power… Green Lantern’s light!” the White House captioned the clip on X, referencing what the comic-book hero says to charge the ring’s magical abilities.
